The cost to educate each student and the Tuition Gap:
What do tuition and fees pay for?
The total operational expenses (salaries, facilities, supplies, curriculum, technology, basic athletic expenses, co-curricular activities, and faith formation experiences) are what make up most of the cost to educate each student.
The cost of a Mission College Prep Catholic education is a valuable and important investment in a student's future. While rising costs are a reality of everyday life, we remain committed to making the best educational experience on the Central Coast accessible to as many families as possible.
Our tuition and fee rate is created so families cover approximately 81% of the actual cost of educating each student. Through our fundraising efforts and support from our endowment, we are able to bridge the remaining 19% tuition gap.
The collaborative efforts of our Leadership Team, Advancement Department, and Diocese have enabled us to expand opportunities for more families to experience a Mission College Prep Catholic education. This meaningful investment in each child's academic, personal, and spiritual growth is at the core of Catholic education. Every gift we receive helps bridge that gap and ensures the Mission College Prep experience remains accessible to deserving students and families throughout the Central Coast.
Why is there a difference between the tuition we charge and the actual cost of attending MCP?
A typical gap of several thousand dollars per student exists because tuition is intentionally kept below the actual per-pupil cost to provide opportunities for more families across San Luis Obispo County to attend MCP.
Tuition payments:
Begin in July and may be made annually, semi-annually, or spread out over 10 payments.
