ROYAL PRIDE WEEKLY
March 22, 2024
Hello Royals Family!
Many will remember that back in February MCP launched a parent survey to gather feedback on our school’s successes and more importantly, on our areas for growth. Thankfully, over 100 respondents, representing just under 30% of our parent community let us know their thoughts.
We are still compiling and reviewing the data and further details will be shared in greater depth in April, but here are some highlights so far:
The following were repeated sentiments in the survey regarding areas for growth:
- Doing more to keep the cost of tuition within reach of more families
- Better communication about school decisions and the direction of the school
- More consistent enforcement of school rules
…. as well as concerns that were shared about a host of other areas: cheerleading, student parking, athletic fields, access to electives, playing time, service programs, critical thinking, responsiveness to parent concerns and others.
The following were repeated sentiments regarding areas of strength:
- The high level of care for the students across all programs
- The high quality of the academic experience
- The high degree of safety of the campus environment
…. as well as strengths that were shared about a host of other areas: retreats, campus culture, drama, mock trial, coaches, character development, and others.
Ninety-nine respondents said that they would proudly recommend MCP to other families, which is truly affirming. But we also know that we did not hear from over half of our parents and so if you have additional feedback, you do not need to wait for another survey. Please be encouraged to tell us how you feel, whether we have exceeded expectations or fallen woefully short. I want this school to be the best it can possibly be; a school where every student is fully aware of their unique gifts and proud of their unique place in the world. Thank you to all who have responded.
This Sunday marks the end of the Lenten Season and the beginning of Holy Week in the Catholic Church. We begin in just a few days with Palm Sunday which commemorates the historical arrival of Jesus into the city of Jerusalem, where He would spend several days leading up to the Jewish Passover.
It is my sincere hope that over the past six weeks of Lent all families have experienced a deepening of faith and that our prayer and reflection has leavened our hearts for what is to come. We still have a few days of school before we break for Easter, but it is appropriate that this weekend we contemplate and celebrate the coming of the king. Have a restful weekend.
Yours in Christ,
Mike Susank
Principal

MCP Seder Meal - Tuesday, March 26
Seder is the meal Jesus ate with his disciples on the night before he died. The elements of the meal represent his body and blood and Jesus giving himself to his disciples. This year on Tuesday, March 26th during Holy Week, MCP would like to celebrate Seder with the MCP students. We are in need of parent help with contributions for this schoolwide meal and volunteers to help with set up and clean up. Please click the link to help. Thank you!

MCP Mock Trial Team Made County History
MCP's Mock Trial team competed last month in the county-wide competition. Our very young team barely missed making it to the semi-final round, but was awarded with many individual awards. MCP Junior, Savita Sohi made county history by being awarded the trophy for BOTH the Best Prosecution Witness and Best Defense Witness. This is incredibly rare in Mock Trial competition and we are very proud of Savita's hard work. Other individual award winners included: Sabrina Ornellas, Runner-Up for Prosecution Witness; Andy Tracy, Honorable Mention for Defense Attorney; and Avrum Kline, Honorable Mention for Defense Attorney. Congratulations to all!
