Luke Montoya was fortunate to come away with a win this past weekend at the NCGA (Northern California Golf Asso.) Junior Tour. The tour hosts players throughout California with official golf handicaps of 4 and under. The win didn't come easy. Luke was 3 strokes behind the leader after day 1 and was chasing the leader throughout day 2. It wasn't until a near hole-in-one on hole 17 that he moved 2 strokes ahead. However, a double-bogey on the last hole nearly cost him the win. He won with 1 stroke to spar. Great job Luke!!!

Michael E. Fitzgerald, 84, a retired Navy Captain and former math teacher at Mission College Prep High School, passed peacefully on March 22nd at Twin Cities Community Hospital, in Templeton California after an extended battle with leukemia.

Rocket League: Our Rocket League team of Aj Jepsen, Caiden Ways, and Caden Stafford is 4-2 at the mid season mark with quality wins against Orange Lutheran and Mater Dei!

Super Smash Bros: Charlie Gibbs is dominating the competition before him. He is undefeated this season in individual play (5-0). Our Super Smash Trio of Charlie, Aiden Rodriguez and Thomas Taylor is 3-3 in 71st place out of 222 teams.

League of Legends: Our league of legends team is 5-7 this season placing with a huge win over St. John Bosco’s Navy Squad this week.

Mario Kart: First season of Mario Kart is going well! All of our drivers are committed and progressing quickly! Our squad includes a sibling duo of Thomas and Sarah Beaudin, Thomas Taylor, Ashley Ornellas, Abbey Buffaloe, and Anneliese Tracy! Come cheer us on, Thursdays at 4pm!

SPRING FLING: Freshman and Sophomores, your Spring Fling dance is on April 2 at the MCP Courtyard from 8-10pm. The theme this year is Old Hollywood. This is a semi-formal dance, and a dress code has been posted. Use the 5-Star app to sign up or pay $5. Guest passes are available in the Front Office and need to be submitted by Tuesday, March 29.

On Thursday, March 17, 2022 is the 8th annual All In For Mission one-day fundraising campaign. We are asking all Mission College Preparatory Catholic High School supporters to join us in this one-day of giving. Your donation helps MCP expand programming areas throughout our school and across all curriculums. This year’s All In For Mission supports Kairos & Retreats.

We invite all MCP supporters to join us for a glass of Irish beer on the MCP campus on March 17th from 5:00-7:00 PM. MathWorks Math Modeling Challenge is a contest for high school juniors and seniors in the U.S. and sixth form students in England and Wales. Through participation, students experience what it’s like to work as a team to tackle a real-world problem under time and resource constraints, akin to those faced by professional mathematicians working in industry. The Challenge was 14 hours continuously and the teams submitted a report of their work at the end.

MCP had two teams that participated;
Team: Nicholas Llaurado, Shubhankar Naik, Spencer Riegler, Zach Schroeder, Amber Snook and Team: Beth Heffernan, Sophie Hilton, Eli Marslek, Levi Munster, Gautam Naik

Both teams did an amazing job of submitted a viable solution paper at the end of the 14 hours. Only 113 of the 612 teams that submitted a viable solution paper, about 18.5%, go onto the second round of judging. The team of Beth, Sophie, Eli, Levi, and Gautam are going on to the next round of judging. They are MCP's first team to go onto the second round of judging. Please keep them in your prayers.
