ROYAL PRIDE WEEKLY
May 5, 2023
Good Afternoon Royals Family,
I hope everyone will have the opportunity to see our amazing drama club’s final performances of Newsies Jr. this weekend. Once again Mrs. Blomfield’s group of student directors, choreographers, actors, and technicians have outdone themselves.
We are also wrapping up the first week of AP Exams and moving into the final weeks of instruction. Now is the time for students to start setting aside weekend time for studying for final exams.
Speaking of ‘time’ student drivers should be aware that available parking is going to be found further from campus in the next four weeks, as the demolition has begun on what will eventually be a new parking structure at Nipomo and Palm. Please leave a little early to avoid the tardy bell.
Everyone enjoy this beautiful weekend!
Yours In Christ, Mike Susank
Principal

Summer Classes in Your Plans?
As we roll into May and the last few weeks of school, the Academics Department wants to touch base about taking classes over summer. There are three main reasons students may choose to take a class over the summer: for "enrichment," for "advancement," or for "remediation." In all cases, MCP asks that the linked form be completed and submitted for approval before students enroll in a course. Click the link to access this form and review the email sent from Ms. Foster on April 18th with more information. Question, email Ms. Foster at [email protected].

Palm Street Parking Lot Construction
Head's up to our MCP drivers - the City of San Luis Obispo will begin construction on a new parking structure this month at the corner of Palm and Nipomo across from our baseball field. If your student traditionally parks in that lot, they should plan extra time to find alternative parking. Please be aware of all parking signs, restrictions, and meters. MCP Men's Tennis - Heading to CIF Championships
MCP Men's Tennis will play for the CIF Division 3 Championship on Tuesday, May 9th at Sinsheimer Park in SLO. The matches starts at 3:00 PM. MCP will play against Orcutt Academy. Free 'Krossa Dogs' to all MCP fans (or maybe we should call them Hitchen Dogs – he will be the master chef).
The road to this CIF Division 3 Championships started on Monday when MCP defeated West (Bakersfield) 6-3. Juniors Easton Weir and Diego Pesquera, and Seniors Nick Loughead and Levi Munster won their singles & doubles matches. This victory was especially impressive because MCP's #2 player was sick and unable to play! Way to go Royals!!!

You can access re-enrollment by logging into your FACTS Family Portal, clicking the Apply/Enroll link on the left-hand side, and clicking Reenrollment. Attention Parent Volunteers – Parent Service Hours
Every Mission College Prep family is required to do a minimum of 15 MCP volunteer hours each year. Please be aware that the deadline for either completing your hours, or alerting me of future planned hours, was April 15, 2023. Families that have not met the 15-hour minimum by this time will be charged $25 per incomplete hour. Invoices for those incomplete hours have been billed through FACTS.
Outstanding Tuition Balances
It is Mission College Prep’s policy, as stated in the Parent and Student Handbook, that no student is permitted to sit for their final exams unless all tuition and fees are paid. The final exam in each course is a required component, so a student who does not sit for a final exam is in danger of rendering a semester grade of zero (F) for each course for which a final exam was not taken. In this current semester, final exams are scheduled to begin on Wednesday, May 24, 2023. Please be advised that all student accounts must be current by 12 noon on May 23, or affected students will be contacted, informed of the situation, and will not be able to participate in their final exams until further notice. Once all student accounts are paid, all missed final exams will be re-scheduled for the student, but please be advised that the instructors are not obligated to grade any exam taken after June 2, 2023, until the instructor returns in August, 2023, potentially delaying an updated official transcript for several months. Also please be aware that anyone on Tuition Assistance for next year will lose their Tuition Assistance if they are not 100% caught up with this year’s tuition by June 30, 2023.
We understand family circumstances with regards to finances can change, especially during these difficult and uncertain times, so please contact me or Mrs. Carlesha Harris immediately if there are any further questions. If you would like to make a payment, please contact Mrs. Carlesha Harris in the Business Office at [email protected].

Community Service Reminder - Senior Students
This is a friendly reminder that all of your service hours must be complete in order to receive your diploma and have transcripts sent to your college of choice. Now is a great time to start making a plan to make sure this requirement is fulfilled. Senior students need a total of 60 community service hours and 22.5 school service hours (this is the adjustment from our covid years). Students are able to make up hours - but you can't move hours forward (example you completed all of your hours freshmen year and want to count it for all four years). Mrs. Buresh has a record of where you are at as of right now in her office. If you have questions stop by and see Mrs. Buresh. Graduation will be here before you know it - let's make sure your requirement is taken care of for graduation.
**If you transferred into MCP...you will have additional adjustments to these totals.
