ROYAL PRIDE WEEKLY
March 17, 2023
Hello Royals Family!
Every spring MCP staff enjoy a Retreat together. We call this our “Day of Greatness” and it focuses on building community among our amazing teachers, staff, and administrators. It is important enough that we take what would ordinarily be a school day and set it aside to strengthen our collegial bonds and deepen our faith. I’m sure students enjoy the extra day off but please know; we are making the most of that time.
We are now poised to launch into the ‘true spring’ of the second semester. The weather and time change will lead to increasingly more pleasant afternoons (perfect for watching sports outside) and we all will be reminded of the many blessings of life on the Central Coast. It’s going to be a great few weeks leading up to Easter Break, and beyond.
Please plan to join us this next Friday for our Family Bingo Night and also be looking ahead to our Grandparents Day Mass with Bishop Danny Garcia, on Tuesday, March 28, at 10 am in the Mission. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this fine St. Patrick’s Day and thank you for all you do in support of our school.
Yours In Christ,
Mike Susank
Principal

From the Office of College & Academic Advising
12th Grade Families:
March is “notification” period for the UCs, the CSUs, and almost all colleges with “regular decision” deadlines. Please celebrate each and every acceptance – and remind your senior (and yourself) that a “deny” or “waitlist” is not a personal reflection of them or their efforts. Students (and you) may grieve – that is natural, but don’t let them dwell on the negative, focus on the positives. And, if your student is anxious, there are many good colleges with “rolling admissions” still accepting applications – just contact Ms. Foster to learn more.
9th-11th Grade Families:

Families that have not met the 15-hour minimum by this time will be charged $25 per incomplete hour.
There are many opportunities to contribute. Keep watching for volunteer opportunities in emails, on the MCP website under the Parents Association tab, and here in the Royal Pride. Thank you for all you do for our school!

Community Service Reminder - Senior Students
This is a friendly reminder that all of your service hours must be complete in order to receive your diploma and have transcripts sent to your college of choice. Now is a great time to start making a plan to make sure this requirement is fulfilled. Senior students need a total of 60 community service hours and 22.5 school service hours (this is the adjustment from our covid years). Students are able to make up hours - but you can't move hours forward (example you completed all of your hours freshmen year and want to count it for all four years). Mrs. Buresh has a record of where you are at as of right now in her office. If you have questions stop by and see Mrs. Buresh. Graduation will be here before you know it - let's make sure your requirement is taken care of for graduation.
**If you transferred into MCP...you will have additional adjustments to these totals.
