ROYAL PRIDE WEEKLY
February 3, 2023
Hello Royals Family!
I am pleased to affirm that Catholic Schools Week on our campus was a great success! On Wednesday we had a wonderful all-school mass with Fr. Matt Pennington from Nativity of Our Lady Parish (thank you Campus Ministry team!); we had nearly 80% of our students dressing up in the theme every day this week; and we had great student rallies on both Monday and Friday (thank you ASB Leadership students!).
In researching and reflecting this week upon the impact that Catholic schools make, I was reminded that across our country, Catholic high schools are providing a home for nearly one out of ten American high school students. It is also the case that in most positions of leadership beyond the classroom (board rooms, legislatures, courtrooms, and countless other professions) it is exceedingly rare to find a leadership team that does not have a significant number (and often a majority) of members who were taught in Catholic schools. As I shared with our students on Monday, despite common rhetoric to the contrary, it is undeniable that Catholic schools also make public schools even better (and admittedly, vice versa) because we provide an alternative of excellence that drives innovation at both institutions (but I would put MCP up among the very best schools in our country!).
Unquestionably, the value of a Catholic high school education has never been higher. Neither has our world (or our culture) ever seemed more resistant to faith and to faith-based education. Nevertheless, we will continue to strive towards outcomes for all of our students that reflect our Gospel and institutional values: care, accountability, educating the whole person: mind, body, spirit, scholarship, inspiration, and leadership, service, and a deeper life with God and with one another.
Thank you again for your partnership and have a wonderful weekend!
Yours in Christ,
Mike Susank
Principal

Community Service Reminder - Senior Students
This is a friendly reminder that all of your service hours must be complete in order to receive your diploma and have transcripts sent to your college of choice. Now is a great time to start making a plan to make sure this requirement is fulfilled. Senior students need a total of 60 community service hours and 22.5 school service hours (this is the adjustment from our covid years). Students are able to make up hours - but you can't move hours forward (example you completed all of your hours freshmen year and want to count it for all four years). Mrs. Buresh has a record of where you are at as of right now in her office. If you have questions stop by and see Mrs. Buresh. Graduation will be here before you know it - let's make sure your requirement is taken care of for graduation.
**If you transferred into MCP...you will have additional adjustments to these totals.
