MCP Distance Learning - Weekly Update

Dear Royals Family,

We have now reached the last week of instruction before Final Exams begin and it is with tremendous appreciation that I reflect upon what our students, families, and staff have soldiered through since those fateful days in mid-March.

As we approach the conclusion of one school year we are also making significant plans for the coming school year as well.  The evolving nature of our local health conditions means we need to be ready for everything, and we will be.  The most likely scenarios currently circulating among state and county education officers are a return to campus in August but with either strict hygiene and distancing protocols for students and staff, or actual limits on the number of students who will be allowed on campus at any given moment.  It is also predicted that if Covid-19 returns as a seasonal illness some period of completely off-campus instruction will be necessary during the winter or spring.  We are preparing for all of these scenarios and will stay in communication throughout this process.

Regardless of the circumstances we will, of course, operate a safe and secure campus, but we are also committed to being good partners with our local health and safety agencies.  They set the limits by which we may operate and we will do our part to maintain a healthy community.

One thing that is certain is that whatever the limits imposed upon the operation of high schools in our area, MCP will continue to provide a superior, college preparatory education; one that prepares our students for success as college students, as leaders, and as people of faith and one that forms young women and men of Scholarship, Inspiration, and Leadership.

As families look forward to summer it may come up to enroll your student in summer coursework.  MCP is exploring the option of conducting a limited Summer School but we are still in negotiations with the county on the hygiene and distancing protocols.  As of now, MCP has not been approved to reopen for on-campus instruction and we wish to include an on-campus component to any summer school experience.  Please stay tuned.  Our local community colleges remain an excellent option for summer coursework but please be aware that not all courses at these institutions can be substituted for MCP coursework.  It is imperative that a student contact Mr. Thoene, the Director of Curriculum at [email protected] before enrolling in summer coursework at any local high school or community college.

The coming year is going to be amazing.  We are enrolling the class of 2024 and I am pleased to report that as of this week our freshman class currently stands at the same number as it did during this week last year.  Clearly the value of an MCP education continues to stand out in our community.  Please continue to spread the word and continue to pray for the future success of our school and our community.  There will be an after to this crisis and WeWill get there as a community.

Yours in Christ
