Emergency Plan

Update: This past summer Mission College Prep invested a great deal of time and energy in updating the school’s Emergency Plan. This plan is a comprehensive document that deals with a multitude of school-wide emergency scenarios. The process of creating this 63 page document was to take the best ideas from our existing plan, three other high schools’ plans, and The Diocese of Monterey’s sample plan, as well as our own Emergency Plan Site-Team’s ideas and dialogue with local law enforcement and prepare a system that is in dialogue and consistent with best practices for schools today.

The Plan covers evacuation, earthquake, lockdown, and much more. This is a living document, we will be making changes and improvements throughout the year, and your suggestions and concerns are valued. If you would be interested in joining the Health, Safety, and Emergency Management team to help plan for the future, we are looking for parent volunteers. Please contact John Krossa at jkrossa@missionprep.org. Captain Ian Parkinson who is a Mission Prep parent and a San Luis Police Officer has already volunteered to provide professional guidance along the way.

In early September a teacher/staff in-service was conducted to update the faculty on the new school plan and to inform/train employees on their assignments. We plan to have multiple evacuation, earthquake, and lock-down drills during the 2008-2009 school year. Being prepared, organized, and trained is essential during a school-wide emergency and Mission College Prep’s new updated emergency plan will enable us to react swiftly and efficiently in the event of an emergency.
