The purpose of athletics at MCP is to foster positive school pride and individual physical excellence through team participation. Courage, hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm mark the true MCP athlete. The school seeks to strike a balance between competition and cooperation as our athletes develop their God-given talents. A student who truly pursues excellence through self-discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship always wins regardless of the score.
MCP’s long-standing athletic tradition is defined by its commitment to excellence in the development of scholar-athletes. 78% of our students participated in at least 1 sport last year and 20% of our student athletes earned scholar-athlete distinction, as recognized by the California Interscholastic Federation.
We believe athletics is an essential tool for developing student leadership on and off the field and court, and further promotes qualities of sportsmanship, teamwork and accountability. The Athletics department is dedicated to enriching campus life by hosting a vibrant program of interscholastic sports over Fall, Winter and Spring competition seasons and is proud of its legacy in accumulating 47 CIF Championships in both the Southern and Central Sections.
